I finally have a second...

The babies are doing well, I think they are the coolest things ever. They are very simular in many ways but very different in others. They are gettting more alert each day & even like toys for about 10 seconds. Avery smiles & Eli looks very seriously at the world.

Here is a picture of them...

Catch up

Alright a lot has happened since my last post let me tell you...

Last week Thursday we had an 8:30 am appointment to discuss inducing Rondas labor because her blood pressure was rising & the babies were not showing any inclination to come out. So we were too excited to sleep that night I was up until about 1:00 & still just tossed & turned. At about 2:00 I went down stairs to watch TV and try to snooze on the couch...SO at 3:00 or so I hear Ronda get up & go to the rest room.

Then I hear her coming down the stairs, I assume she is coming for a drink or some thing, but no.. She says " Shannon, I think something has happened." Well something had her water broke!!

Holy snikeys! After a few phone calls & showers for all, we were off to the birthing center.
Ronda was checked and dilating (only to 1 though) so we were admitted.

Ronda then had a blood check & was spilling protein into her blood, a sign of rising blood pressure. The doctor wanted to put her on some meds to prevent seizures (a symptom of spilling protein) but it slowed labor...So then they wanted to give her something to speed up labor. Kind of like a tug of war situation if you ask me...

Some time later ( 5 PM) the contractions were getting stronger & more uncomfortable so in goes and epidural after a quick cervical check (still dialated to 1). Ta-da 40 minutes later we are fully dialated & ready to push.

When you are expecting twins they have you birth them in the c-section room in case of emergency. We did some preliminary pushing in our room & then I got all decked out in scrubs paper shoe covers mask & hat (sexy, I know). They then assembled the team & whelled us to the or.

Ronda pushed for quite some time. She was amazing! Eli took a while being the first out when he came out he was PURPLE!! & not breathing ( purple & breathing okay, purple & not breathing not okay) They were smacking hbis feet & still no breathing meanwhile he is getiing more purple... Then they call i the neonatal intensive care unit & about 6 Dr. & Nurses rush into the room & start to woork on him.... Mean while back at the ranch, Ronda is asking if he is ok, I told her he was but he was gettin some oxygen. In reality htey were using that bag thing to get him to breath, appearantly he had a blood clot in his mouth that he breathed in & blocked his airway!! 12 minutes after him Avery made her quiet appearance & was breathing & well.

Just before she came out we heard him cry, Thank God.

To be continued....

the twins evil master plan

So Ronda's water broke today at 3 a.m. The babies shuold soon arrive!!

HERE I AM

Well, Tomorrow Thursday, we see the doctor to have blood work done & consider induction. I am wide awake and freaking out that there will be five cat hairs on the stairs & somehow it will a sign of how I will care for the babies...like if I cannot keep our house hair fee (why not I only have 5 cats 2 dogs & a parrot) I should not be allowed to care for uour children. Rational? NO! but it is true..Sigh

Hopefully the next chance I get to blog here I will be over that and too tired to care what anyone thinks!! ha-ha

of course it broke...

our washer broke today, so we went and bought a new one. It just had to break now days before our twins are born. Of course it broke because we are using these!!

The good news is Ronda may have been showing signs of nesting today, she cleaned windows. We'll just have to wait and see.

Nesting~ common indicator that labor is just around the corner is the sudden emergence of the nesting instinct. If you're close to your due date and find yourself frantically cleaning out drawers and organizing cupboards, chances are labor will start within a few days.
