it is so hard to believe that Avery & Eli are 3+ months old already. Here are a few recent photos.

  1. Eli the very handsome boy
  2. Could they get any closer together?
  3. Avery nice 'binky' placement, ahem.
  4. The pets are so affected.
  5. Avery has found her thumb.

Today

Eli

Avery

I almost broke my dogs foot, squashed a cat, dropped my son & in the end I was bleeding:

I was putting a sleeping Eli down for a nap & as I got up I stepped on Fridays foot ( which was barely sticking out from under the back room bed). She yelped, I lurched which put me off balance so with my right hand I caught myself on the bed...Only it was also on sleeping Harry (the cat) who of course freaked out & began kicking me. By this time I have regained control of my self (still holding the boy) & i put him in the crib all while bleeding & hoping I had not killed anyone & how was your day?

Aunt Lucy

Eli in his 'jet jammies' that he probably won't fit for much longer (so sad) but I love the look on his face, so cute.
Aunt Lucy
My Aunt Lucy came to stay for a few days to help with the babies because they were getting shots (5 each). She darn near cried when the babies got their shots & then got each baby 2 stickers while I was signing forms "they got 5 shots they should get 5 stickers" but appearantly there was a limited quantity to chose from. She is the kindest person I think I know. I have always felt a special connection with her, She told me she has always felt that I was special. We always get along & laugh way too much even if I haven't seen her in 5 years (as was the case this week, practically * She had been living in Florida, until lately). She makes me wish I had that kind of easy going relationship with my mom, who at best is always tricky to deal with & not usually easy to get along with. My mother could not come & help because "she had to drop her husband off to work" (* not true he had a ride that week*) but hey to each his own. I just hope that my own neice feels the same way about me as I feel about my Aunt (I think she does). So anyway...

The week seemed long because the babies were cranky for a day or two. The doctor (Dr. DYK, really!!) asked me how much sleep they were getting at night & I proudly told him 4-5 hour! He said that babies at 9 weeks can sleep through the night & the next time one woke to soothe him/her & put them back to sleep without a feeding & see what happens. Okay night one a baby cries & Ronda gets up & feeds him (dispite the dr's adviice) Avery starts to cry while Rondsa is feeding Eli so I get up change her & put her back in the crib & rub her tummy, Voila' she slept all night. It only took 2 more nights of this for Ronda to catch on... So now my babies sleep 8 hour straight through!! YEA!!! anyway enjoy the pictures & notice hou all the animals seem to flock to Aunt Lucy!!

Gay Marriage

10 Reasons Gay Marriage Will Ruin Our Society

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all;women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed;the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8 ) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adaptto new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sectoreconomy, or longer life spans.

Ahh officers

The following 15 Police Comments were taken off of actual police car videos around the country...
15 "Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretchout after you wear them awhile."..
14 "Take your hands off the car, and I'll make your birth certificate aworthless document."..
13 "If you run, you'll only go to jail tired."..
12 "Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? In case you didn'tknow, that is the average speed of a 9mm bullet fired from my gun."..
11 "So you don't know how fast you were going. I guess that means I can write anything I want on the ticket, huh?"..
10 "Yes, Sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't thinkit will help. Oh, did I mention that I am the shift supervisor?"..
9 "Warning! You want a warning? O.K., I'm warning you not to do thatagain or I'll give you another ticket."..
8 "The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not. Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?"..
7 "Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you go toride on rides, eat cotton candy, and step in monkey DOO."..
6 "Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a toasteroven."..
5 "In God we trust, all others we run through NCIC."..
4 "Just how big were those two beers?"..
3 "No sir we don't have quotas anymore. We used to have quotas but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we want."..
2 "I'm glad to hear the Chief of Police is a good personal friend ofyours. At least you know someone who can post your bail."And...............

THE BEST ONE !..

1 "You didn't think we give pretty women tickets? You're right, we don't. Sign here."

A pastor's ASS

A pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won.

The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again, and it won again.
The local newspaper read: PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT.
The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in another race.
The next day, the local newspaper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS. This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent.
The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day: NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN.
The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10.
The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.
This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild.
The next day the headlines read: NUN ANNOUNCES...HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE. The bishop was buried the next day.... The moral of the story is.... Being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery .. And even shorten your life. So be yourself and enjoy life

Am I really this old?

So this evening.... (after I volunteered at the Humane Society) I was struck by this...

The kids were asleep, I was making tea (yes tea) & watching a crime/drama type TV show. So the thought hits me I am an adult *GASP* for recap. I volunteered today, MY kids were asleep, TEA & Crime TV. I am just one generation from Agatha Christie!! Or Matlock, even Perry Mason, for craps-sake!!

So here is a picture to share it is Harry my kitty & Avery enjoying the play mat.

I finally have a second...

The babies are doing well, I think they are the coolest things ever. They are very simular in many ways but very different in others. They are gettting more alert each day & even like toys for about 10 seconds. Avery smiles & Eli looks very seriously at the world.

Here is a picture of them...

gotta go, Shannon

Catch up

Alright a lot has happened since my last post let me tell you...

Last week Thursday we had an 8:30 am appointment to discuss inducing Rondas labor because her blood pressure was rising & the babies were not showing any inclination to come out. So we were too excited to sleep that night I was up until about 1:00 & still just tossed & turned. At about 2:00 I went down stairs to watch TV and try to snooze on the couch...SO at 3:00 or so I hear Ronda get up & go to the rest room.

Then I hear her coming down the stairs, I assume she is coming for a drink or some thing, but no.. She says " Shannon, I think something has happened." Well something had her water broke!!

Holy snikeys! After a few phone calls & showers for all, we were off to the birthing center.
Ronda was checked and dilating (only to 1 though) so we were admitted.

Ronda then had a blood check & was spilling protein into her blood, a sign of rising blood pressure. The doctor wanted to put her on some meds to prevent seizures (a symptom of spilling protein) but it slowed labor...So then they wanted to give her something to speed up labor. Kind of like a tug of war situation if you ask me...

Some time later ( 5 PM) the contractions were getting stronger & more uncomfortable so in goes and epidural after a quick cervical check (still dialated to 1). Ta-da 40 minutes later we are fully dialated & ready to push.

When you are expecting twins they have you birth them in the c-section room in case of emergency. We did some preliminary pushing in our room & then I got all decked out in scrubs paper shoe covers mask & hat (sexy, I know). They then assembled the team & whelled us to the or.

Ronda pushed for quite some time. She was amazing! Eli took a while being the first out when he came out he was PURPLE!! & not breathing ( purple & breathing okay, purple & not breathing not okay) They were smacking hbis feet & still no breathing meanwhile he is getiing more purple... Then they call i the neonatal intensive care unit & about 6 Dr. & Nurses rush into the room & start to woork on him.... Mean while back at the ranch, Ronda is asking if he is ok, I told her he was but he was gettin some oxygen. In reality htey were using that bag thing to get him to breath, appearantly he had a blood clot in his mouth that he breathed in & blocked his airway!! 12 minutes after him Avery made her quiet appearance & was breathing & well.

Just before she came out we heard him cry, Thank God.

To be continued....

the twins evil master plan

So Ronda's water broke today at 3 a.m. The babies shuold soon arrive!!

HERE I AM

Well, Tomorrow Thursday, we see the doctor to have blood work done & consider induction. I am wide awake and freaking out that there will be five cat hairs on the stairs & somehow it will a sign of how I will care for the babies...like if I cannot keep our house hair fee (why not I only have 5 cats 2 dogs & a parrot) I should not be allowed to care for uour children. Rational? NO! but it is true..Sigh

Hopefully the next chance I get to blog here I will be over that and too tired to care what anyone thinks!! ha-ha

of course it broke...

our washer broke today, so we went and bought a new one. It just had to break now days before our twins are born. Of course it broke because we are using these!!

The good news is Ronda may have been showing signs of nesting today, she cleaned windows. We'll just have to wait and see.

Nesting~ common indicator that labor is just around the corner is the sudden emergence of the nesting instinct. If you're close to your due date and find yourself frantically cleaning out drawers and organizing cupboards, chances are labor will start within a few days.

Today was not the day

Okay, so today was not the day the babies are supposed to come...sigh..

Monday we have a doctor appointment right after we have a monitoring (fetal stress test), maybe they will let us know if it will be at least soon.

SIGH...

I'm ready

Apparently I think they are coming tonite or at least soon, here I sit at 3:21 AM. loading all my baby Einstein CD's into I-tunes because I can play them through my I-pod in my car and one bouncy seat. (I know technology, right?) Anyway, Today we got our car seats inspected. The nurse asked who put them in and seemed surprised when I stated that I had (with a minimal of cursing) she said that they were in great!! She then asked how i got them in so snug 'did you use your kneee?" heck no, "i used my ASS" which she then shared laughingly with the other nurses. So there I am officially a great car seat putterinner!

Susan~ I sure would love to see you when we come to Disney, we bought the babies swimming suits for the trip. Memere & Pepere (Grandma & Grandpa in french) really want us to go soooo if we can't afford all of it they will probably help. Have a fun & safe trip. Shannon

Now, I am officially jobless...

Anyway on to the next chapter...

Here we go?

We had the pediatric cardiology appointment today, her heart is fine it has all of its parts & she should out grow the premature beats by birth. The babies are doing very well Eli weighs 5 pounds 5 ounces, Avery weighs in at 5 pounds. The doctor thinks it could be any day now. Yikes & Yea!

My last day at work is the 4th, of course they could not honor my wishes and not have some sort of going away thing & since I told them I would not come to one before or after work, they planned one for when I am at work. Sigh, BIG sigh.

Gotta run!

Keep her in your thoughts...

We got a phone call yesterday, apparently at our last ultrasound they noticed an irregularity in avery's heart rhythm. Not to worry they say, we just want to keep an eye on it. What sort of irregularity? Premature arterial contractions....What are those?
Well apparently her top ventricles are out of synch with the bottom ones... We want to do an echo-cardiogram when she is bigger (April 25 @ 9:15). I am unsure if what that all means but we see the doctor on Monday and hopefully will get more information then.

But until then please enjoy some nursery photos (still not quite finished but habitable by kidlets)

Okay and a few of the cakes from the shower...
